19 October 2023 It is a disgrace and a barbaric crime what has happened and is happening in Gaza.
The Israeli barrage of bombs and missiles that Gaza is facing, with its people; women, children, its elderly and young, is a crime of genocide. It shames humanity in every part the world that is longing for peace instead of the language of war, the smell of gunpowder and blood, and the images of death that fill all TV channels, media outlets and social media. It confirms the brutality of the Israeli aggression that is threatening the people and land of Gaza with destruction and forced displacement.
Gaza is without water, food, electricity, humanitarian and medical supplies. It is facing the Israeli aggression with steadfastness and more insistence on clinging to the land of Palestine as a people who have the right to sovereignty and the right to life.
We denounce all the brutal attacks carried out by the Zionist entity since the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the latest of which is the crime of bombing the Al-Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip, which led to the death and injury of hundreds, most of them women and children. Everyday dozens of people lose their lives in the cycle of violence that is sweeping other areas of occupied Palestine.
The numbers of victims are increasing with the continued Israeli aggression and war which blatantly violates human rights and threatens the population of Gaza with genocide. This war is supported by major powers, led by the US which talks about human rights while being the first to violate them by supporting Israel.
Iraqi Women's League and all supporters of the Palestinian cause call on the peoples of the world to adopt a unified position and launch regional and global campaigns to pressure the UN Security Council to adopt an urgent and immediate resolution to stop the Israeli aggression which violates all international agreements, charters and treaties, and the principles of human rights.
We call for immediate action to stop the massacres carried out by the Zionist aggression, while committing to a just solution that guarantees the Palestinian people their right to establish their national and fully sovereign state on their land, Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital. Medical and humanitarian support must be delivered, and protection be provided for the medical teams that are working to treat the wounded and injured, most of whom are women, children and the elderly.
We salute the steadfastness of the people of Gaza and extend sincere condolences to the families of the martyrs.
Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people for a free Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.

(Izmir, Turkey 20-22 Oct. 2023)
Dear Comrades,
I convey the warmest greetings of the Iraqi Communist Party to the 23rd International Meeting of the Communist and Workers’ Parties, wishing its deliberations every success.
We also highly appreciate the efforts of the fraternal Communist Party of Turkey to host this meeting, despite the political challenges it is facing, thereby demonstrating once again its internationalist character and contribution to strengthening this international forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences and developing joint action.
On this occasion, we reiterate our solidarity with the people of Turkey and TKP, and their ongoing struggle to achieve real change, against despotic rule, exploitation and corruption; to build a democratic and secular country enjoying freedom, equality and social justice.
Dear Comrades,
Our 23rd International Meeting is taking place in a dangerous world situation, with the escalation of armed conflicts and wars, as highlighted most recently by developments in the Middle East and the continuing barbaric Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The contradiction between the interests of monopoly capital, and its global dimension represented by imperialism, and the right of peoples to live in peace, security, freedom, dignity and sustainable human development, has been blatantly evident throughout the world. The general crisis of capitalism has returned with ferocity after the failure of neoliberalism to provide any solutions to it. Among its important new features are environmental degradation, global warming and climate change, which increasingly express a profound contradiction between capitalism and life itself.
Instead of the era of unipolar hegemony continuing and the United States remaining an undisputed superpower, it is facing the decline of its economic dominance. It is actively seeking to obstruct the formation of a new world order whose features are beginning to emerge, with the changing balance of power and the decline in the productive capacity of capitalist countries. In this context, war hysteria is being fuelled, providing support to the populist far right, and stirring up racist and fascist tendencies. In the light of these turbulent and dangerous conditions, despite the opportunities that they may entail, the forces of the Left in the world and in each country face grave challenges that necessitate developing their unity and presenting alternatives and visions for radical change. This is vital to save their peoples and humanity from imminent disasters and to achieve their aspirations for a new social order based on the values of democracy, equality, justice and cooperation, which are the basic values of socialism.
Dear Comrades,
The war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which erupted a year and eight months ago, is continuing without any prospect of serious negotiations to reach a political settlement that would put an end to the tragedies suffered by the peoples of both two countries, prevent its expansion, and avert its grave dangers to world peace.
Peace initiatives by China, Brazil and other countries did not get a response due to the insistence of the United States and its NATO allies on perpetuating the war to exhaust Russia and prevent it from achieving a strategic victory, as they claim, while Russia reaffirms its intention to continue military operations until achieving its minimum goals. With the continuing provocations by NATO in Europe and Russia’s deployment of tactical nuclear weapons, the world is facing more than ever before the danger that this war can turn into a catastrophic global war.
Averting this dangerous path requires the mobilization of a global peace movement to demand an immediate end to this war and a return to negotiations and dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations to reach a permanent peace agreement that spares the peoples of the two countries further devastating tragedies.
Dear Comrades,
The Middle East is witnessing grave developments, with the barbaric Israeli aggression against Gaza and the slaughter of innocent Palestinian civilians. The continuing deadly bombing campaign has so far killed 3,000 people, including more than 700 children. The Zionist occupiers also enforced a complete siege on Gaza, blocking supplies of food, medicines and fuel. This onslaught constitutes a flagrant violation of the international humanitarian law and amounts to a war crime.
The escalation of Palestinian popular resistance came as a legitimate response to the heinous crimes that Netanyahu’s fascist government, the occupation forces and Zionist settler gangs continued to commit against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
The recent developments confirm once again the established fact that there can be no security and stability in the Middle East region except by ending the Israeli occupation, and the Palestinian people obtaining their full legitimate rights to self-determination, freedom, return and independence, and establishing their independent national state with Jerusalem as its capital.
These developments have also reaffirmed the blatant bias of the United States and its allies towards Israel, their unlimited support for it, and their obstruction of the implementation of UN resolutions, allowing it to continue its illegal occupation and crimes against the Palestinian people.
While condemning atrocities against innocent civilians, the Iraqi Communist Party calls for:
- An immediate cessation of the bloody Israeli military aggression and massacre against Gaza, a complete lifting of the unjust racist siege, and the delivery of relief aid to innocent civilians.
- Rejecting the forced displacement and resettlement of the population of Gaza outside it, under the cover of so-called “safe corridors” and “safe zones”, and the pretext of protecting the civilian population from the brutal Israeli bombing.
- Standing firmly against attempts to transform the Palestinian issue from one of a people with a legitimate right to self-determination, and the establishment of their independent national state, into a purely humanitarian issue.
- Exposing the crimes against humanity and war crime committed by Israel’s rulers, ending their impunity, and demanding that the International Criminal Court immediately investigate these crimes.
- Intensifying international solidarity with the Palestinian people, demanding an end to the Israeli occupation and the implementation of relevant UN resolutions.
In this context, we call on this International Meeting to raise its voice to condemn strongly the horrific war crime committed by the fascist Israeli government and its Zionist occupation army last Tuesday (October 17, 2023) by bombing the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, killing hundreds of Palestinian civilians, most of whom were children.
Dear Comrades,
Our Iraqi Communist Party also reiterates, before this International Meeting, its full solidarity with the Sudanese people and their patriotic and democratic forces, first and foremost the Sudanese Communist Party, and its support for their struggle to stop the disastrous war that was ignited by the military rulers six months ago, with more than 5,000 innocent civilians killed. We call on the Communist and Workers' parties participating in this meeting to declare their solidarity with the Sudanese people, democrats and Communists, to reject external interference in Sudan, achieve democratic change and build the people’s democratic civil authority.
Dear Comrades,
Iraqi Communists, along with the democratic forces, are continuing the fight for comprehensive change: building a democratic civil state based on social justice.
Our country continues to suffer the consequences of a deepening structural crisis that is rooted in the existing ethno-sectarian power-sharing system which was installed after the US war, invasion and occupation 20 years ago. With widespread corruption, a widening gap between the rich and the poor, and the absence of social justice, there has been an upsurge in the protest movement.
Despite the bloody repression of the Popular Uprising in October 2019, with 800 young protesters killed, the protests are continuing against a politically bankrupt system and endemic corruption.
The Iraqi Communist Party, and the “Alliance of Democratic Forces for Change” which held its founding conference in Baghdad in October 2022, will contest the forthcoming provincial elections in December this year. These elections are considered another arena of struggle, with the aim of mobilising all the social forces looking for a real political alternative that expresses the aspirations of the Iraqi people to achieve comprehensive change.
The Communist Party and its allies have succeeded in establishing a broad electoral coalition, under the name of “Qiyam (Values) Civil Coalition”. It includes ten registered parties, in addition to other political groups, and will contest the local elections with 400 candidates in 13 provinces. The Party is also participating in civil electoral lists in two other provinces.
The political platform of this electoral coalition calls for ending the corrupt political system and armed militias, and building a state based on citizenship and social justice. Only such a democratic alternative can ensure Iraq’s national sovereignty and put an end to foreign interference in its internal affairs, whether by the US and its allies or by regional powers.
Dear Comrades,
On this occasion, we express our high appreciation for the internationalist solidarity and support extended by many fraternal parties to the Iraqi people, Communists and democrats in their just struggle.
While wishing the 23rd International Meeting of the Communist and Workers’ Parties every success, we once again extend our warm greetings to all the delegates, with special thanks to the fraternal Communist Party of Turkey.
We look forward to further developing relations with all the fraternal parties, and with the forces of peace and progress in the world, in the joint struggle for peace, freedom, democracy, social progress and socialism.
Long live internationalist solidarity!

17 October 2023
The fascist right-wing government in Israel and its criminal Zionist gangs have committed this evening a brutal aggression by bombing the Al-Ahli Hospital in the Gaza Strip, committing a horrific war crime, in which hundreds of Palestinians were killed and injured.
Raid Fahmi, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party, said in a statement to the Party’s media centre, “In these difficult and painful moments, we extend our sincere condolences and sympathy to the Palestinian people and the families of the martyrs, wishing the injured and wounded a speedy recovery”.
He pointed out, "What happened is shameful, a crime of genocide, a fascist act and a flagrant violation of all international norms and laws."
Fahmi stressed that "whoever supports this horrific attack is participating in it, no excuses or justifications can make sense of the piles of bodies of innocent victims, including children and women, of this unprecedented brutality."
He said that “the peoples of Arab countries must take the initiative and put pressure to expel the ambassadors of the Zionist occupation from a number of Arab capitals and stop the shameful normalization process. They must press their governments to move on various levels to stop the Zionist war of revenge, massacres and genocide, to mobilize solidarity and support for the Palestinian people and the population of the Gaza Strip, and to lift the unjust siege imposed on it.”
Fahmi concluded: "The developments confirm once again that there is no security or stability in the region without fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people, first and foremost their right to life, and the establishment of their independent and sovereign national state, with Jerusalem as its capital."

The brutal Israeli aggression against Gaza is escalating in a hysterical reaction to the bold operation carried out this morning by the Palestinian resistance against the Zionist occupation forces. The toll of this aggression, at the time of preparing this statement, reached 198 martyrs and hundreds of wounded.
The escalation of Palestinian popular resistance came as a legitimate response to the heinous crimes that Netanyahu’s fascist government, the occupation forces and settler gangs continued to commit against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem. These included repeated raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacks on Christian and Islamic sanctities, in which dozens of innocent civilians were killed, including women and children.
Today's developments confirm once again the established fact that there can be no security and stability in the Middle East region except by ending the hateful Israeli occupation, and the Palestinian people obtaining their full legitimate rights to self-determination, freedom, return and independence, and establishing their independent national state with Jerusalem as its capital.
These developments also reaffirm the blatant bias of the United States and its allies towards Israel, their unlimited support for it, and their obstruction of the implementation of UN resolutions, allowing it to continue its occupation and crimes against the Palestinian people. They expose the falsity of the shameful positions of the Arab regimes involved in the humiliating process of “normalization” with Israel, and constitute a strong blow to them.
The Iraqi Communist Party raises its voice in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their valiant popular resistance to the Zionist occupation. It calls on all Iraqi patriotic forces to express their solidarity with this heroic Palestinian struggle, and to provide further support for it. The Party also calls on the Iraqi government to take urgent action at the Arab and international levels, to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, protect them, stop the massacre that the Israeli occupation forces continue to commit against Gaza, and deter it from carrying out more crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people and victory to their courageous popular resistance.

You will not Silence the Voice of Students
20 June 2023
We have received the decree issued by the Ministry of Higher Education to prevent the work of our Union within all universities, and to pursue and prosecute our fellow activists in the Union, for fear that the Union’s activities would subsequently be exploited to negatively affect the academic reputation and the progress of the educational process, according to the decree.
We express our strong disapproval and rejection of this repressive decision, which represents a clear suppression of student and academic freedoms and carries with it a clear and systematic targeting of the voice of students and their Union. It is aimed at covering up the failure and corruption of successive administrations, which has led the educational process to collapse, and implementing further plans and decisions that are destructive to education in our country.
What raises our astonishment and condemnation more is the referral of the follow-up to this decision to the offices of the security services at the university. This is an unacceptable police measure and an explicit violation of the Higher Education Law, which prohibits the presence of any military manifestations on campus.
We would like to state that the academic reputation was humiliated when sectarian and ethnic power-sharing was adopted as a criterion for selecting university administrators at the expense of professional competence and integrity. The ruling forces went further in crushing this reputation when the Certificate Equivalency Law was passed, which legitimized thousands of forged certificates obtained outside Iraq, allowing their holders to later assume high positions in the state. The Ministry has continued in insulting the academic reputation, and it ignores the practices of financiers of private colleges and universities that are offensive to students and academics alike.
This decision has come at a time when the Ministry turns a blind eye to the practices of the so-called “volunteer student teams”, that are affiliated with ruling parties, and facilitates their work. It is allowing them to carry out the most heinous sectarian and political activities and the blackmail of professional educational cadres.
Accordingly, we call on the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to withdraw this repressive decision and to make an official apology to our Union for the grave abuse it caused to the history of the first student organization in Iraq. We also hold the Ministry responsible for the security and safety of our colleagues and cadres.
We, in the General Union of Students in the Republic of Iraq, stress that these repressive practices will not undermine our resolve to continue the march of the Union that extends back over 75 years of struggle, and to continue our activities that are aimed at securing a free student life and a better future.
In the same context, we extend our call and appeal to all friendly unions, organizations and trade unions, to condemn this decision which constitutes a grave violation of student and academic freedoms, as it is part of a series of measures targeting public freedoms that are constitutionally and legally guaranteed, and to stand firmly against these practices.
Long live the General Union of Students in the Republic of Iraq
Long live the struggles of the Iraqi student movement
