The Iraqi Communist Party has denounced the repeated armed attacks on Iraqi cities and towns in the Kurdistan region by Turkey and Iran.

Comrade Ali Sahib, member of the party’s Political Bureau, said in a statement he gave to the party’s daily newspaper “Tareeq Al-Shaab” (People’s Path) that the repeated attacks are based on false pretexts, and constitute a flagrant violation of Iraq's sovereignty. He added that the Iranian attacks led to the martyrdom of citizens and the wounding of others, as well as terrorizing defenceless citizens, at a time when the Iraqi government is unable to take any action to stop these cowardly attacks.

Thirteen people were killed and 58 wounded in the Iranian bombing of the Kurdistan region on Wednesday. The attack also affected a number of schools for children and also civilians, injuring children and women, and caused heavy losses.

Sahib pointed out that "the continuation of the attacks on Iraqi territory aims to divert the attention of the public opinion from what is happening inside Iran, and constitutes an attempt to export its problems abroad."

He added: “While condemning and denouncing the repeated Iranian and Turkish attacks, the last of which occurred on Wednesday morning, 28 September 2022, we stress that the Iraqi government's duty is to preserve and defend the sovereignty of the country and ensure the safety of the people. It must take firm measures, and not only denounce and summon the ambassadors of Turkey and Iran and submit memoranda of protest.

He also called on the relevant authorities to put an end to the recurrence of these brutal attacks, to compel Turkey to withdraw its military bases from Iraqi territory, and to call on the international community to condemn the new blatant aggression.

In his statement, Comrade Ali Sahib extended the condolences of the Iraqi Communist Party to the families of the victims of the recent treacherous attack, and called on the Iraqi authorities to expedite the treatment of the wounded and take measures to compensate them and the families of the martyrs.

The Iraqi Communist Party, its organizations, members and supporters, in cooperation with civil and democratic political parties and with the protest movements, are waging a continuous struggle for comprehensive change in Iraq, to build a democratic civil state and achieve social justice. This alternative will develop and diversify the economy, develop national capabilities, respect human rights, enhance women's participation and provide education, health and adequate housing for all citizens, and protect the rights of all Iraqis including minorities.

Since the Party’s 11th National Congress that was held in November 2021, Iraq has witnessed important events and developments that have had profound impact on the political, social, economic, cultural and security scene. Their repercussions continue to interact and affect the course of the ongoing and intensifying conflict over options for the future.  These include the form and content of the state, the approach to governance, and the features of the political, economic and social alternative to the existing system. The latter is based on sectarian-ethnic quotas in administration, as well as in building state institutions, and giving priority to sub-identities over the inclusive Iraqi citizenship identity.

The political regression and repercussions of the all-encompassing structural crisis led to an upsurge of various forms of protests and demonstrations. With the continued spread of corruption, the widening gap between the rich and the poor, the absence of social justice, and the accumulation of protest action for many years, a massive popular uprising erupted in October 2019. It was an unparalleled uprising in Iraq’s modern history, with large numbers of young people in the forefront.

Since that great uprising, the dominant political forces in power have been unable to provide a way out of these crises, given their nature and their desperation to hold onto power, for fear of being subjected to legal accountability, and in order to preserve their interests and influence. Therefore, the infighting and political impasse continues. The democratic civil forces remain reliant on the popular mass movement and mobilization to break the impasse and impose the will of the people who are eager for change.

Hence, we in the Iraqi Communist Party and in the marquee of its central newspaper "Tareeq Al-Shaab" (People’s Path) at the Fête de l'Humanité 2022 are looking forward to the solidarity of all participants and visitors to the festival with our Iraqi people in their struggle against the system of ethno-sectarian power-sharing, corruption and armed militias.

Our party continues the struggle, along with the rest of the peoples of the world and their active forces, against imperialism, neoliberalism, fascism, militarism and wars; for peace and disarmament; against capitalist exploitation and for social progress. It is an integral part of the global movement that aspires to and works for a better future for the peoples of the world.

The Iraqi Communist Party reiterates its solidarity with the struggle of the peoples and their patriotic, democratic, Left and Communist forces in the world; for their right to self-determination with their own free will, and for the victory of the values ​​of democracy and justice, building equal relations and consolidating international peace and security.

Le Parti communiste Irakien, en coopération avec les partis politiques séculiers et démocratiques et avec les mouvements de protestation, mènent une lutte sans relâche pour un changement politique profond et compréhensif en Irak, visant à construire un État civil démocratique. Un Etat qui oeuvre pour la justice sociale, le développemet et la diversification de l’économie, valoriser et développer le potentiel des ressources du pays; un Etat qui respecte aussi les droits de l'homme, renforce la participation des femmes et assure l'éducation, la santé et le logement convenable à tous les citoyens, ainsi que la protection des droits des minorités et de tous les Irakiens.

Depuis le 11e Congrès national du parti qui s'est tenu en novembre 2021, l'Irak a été témoin d'événements et de développements importants qui ont profondément marqué la scène politique, sociale, économique, culturelle et sécuritaire, et dont les répercussions continuent  à résonner  et à influer  le cours du conflit en cours et qui s'intensifie et porte sur les orientations et options futures du pays; notamment en ce qui concerne la forme et le contenu de l'État, le mode de gouvernance et de pensée, et la nature du systèm politique, économique et social alternatif à l’existant basé sur les quotas sectaires et ethniques dans l'administration, ainsi que  dans la composition et la construction des institutions  de l’Etat. Actuellement , l’identité  nationale irakienne et la citoyenneté inclusive sont subordonnées aux  identités secondaires infra étatiques.

La régression politique et les répercussions de la crise structurelle globale ont conduit à l'éruption de diverses formes de protestations et de manifestations. Avec la propagation incessante de la corruption, l'approfondissement du fossé entre les riches et les pauvres, l'absence de justice sociale et l'accumulation d'actions de protestation pendant de nombreuses années, un soulèvement populaire massif a éclaté en octobre 2019. Le   soulèvement était d’une. ampleur sans précédent dans L'histoire moderne de l'Irak, avec un grand nombre de jeunes au premier plan.

Depuis ce grand soulèvement, les forces politiques dominantes au pouvoir n'ont pas été en mesure de fournir une issue à ces crises, compte tenu de la nature de ces forces et de leur volonté désespérée de conserver le pouvoir, de peur d'être soumises à des poursuites judiciaires et afin de préserver leurs intérêts. et leur influence. Pour ces raisons, les luttes intestines et l'impasse politique se poursuivent. Les forces politiques séculières démocratiques restent tributaires du mouvement populaire de masse et de la mobilisation pour sortir de l'impasse et imposer la volonté du peuple avide de changement.

Par conséquent, nous, au Parti communiste irakien et à la tente de son journal central "Tareeq Al-Shaab" (La voie du peuple) à la Fête de L'Humanite 2022, appelons à la solidarité de tous les participants et visiteurs de la Fête avec le peuple Irakien dans sa lutte contre le système de partage du pouvoir ethno-sectaire, la corruption et les milices armées.

Notre parti continue la lutte, avec le reste des peuples du monde et leurs forces actives, contre l'impérialisme, le néolibéralisme, le fascisme, le militarisme et les guerres ; pour la paix et le désarmement; contre l'exploitation capitaliste et pour le progrès social. Elle fait partie intégrante du mouvement mondial qui aspire et travaille pour un avenir meilleur pour les peuples du monde.

The situation in our country has taken a new and dangerous turn, as previously warned against, with the continuation of the state of intransigence and clinging to positions and insistence on the same abhorrent ethno-sectarian power-sharing system that led to the deteriorating state of our country and our people.

The repercussions and open possibilities that things have reached could have been avoided if the will of the majority of Iraqis and their declared demands had been met.

We stress on the following:

• The right to peaceful demonstration and protest in all locations, squares and provinces, and the importance of the peaceful character of the protest movement.
• We loudly condemn resorting to live weapons, willful killing and forms of violence contravening human rights, from all parties. They bear full responsibility for spilling the blood of the martyrs. We call on the security forces of all kinds to protect the demonstrators, distance themselves from political conflicts, assume their responsibilities and perform their tasks in accordance with the Constitution.
• In these difficult and critical circumstances, we renew our support for the right of our people to struggle by various peaceful and mass methods in order to achieve their just demands and impose their will.

In this context, we emphasize:

1. Protecting the right to demonstrate and express opinion through various peaceful forms.
2. Condemning the shooting of demonstrators and protesters, and holding the aggressors fully responsible legally and politically.
3. Resolving the crisis in favor of implementing the demands of the masses by acting immediately to form a transitional government of competent, impartial, fair and independent national figures, away from the political parties and blocs that have previously been tried and proven to fail, and away from the sectarian, ethnic and political quota power-sharing.
4. Moving toward early elections in accordance with a fair electoral system, and preparing relevant draft laws with broad national participation within a short period, to be voted on in one session of the Parliament before it votes on its decision to dissolve itself.
5. Therefore, the judiciary and the Federal Court are required to take a measure that guarantees the supreme interest of the homeland and prevents the country slipping into dangers threatening civil and societal peace.
6. Ending all foreign interference in the affairs of our country. Our people have the right to decide their present and future by themselves, according to the free will of the citizens.

Our party renews its support for our people, and its participation with them in their struggle and joint action, in order to impose the will of the people and inaugurate marching ahead along the path of comprehensive change leading to the establishment of a state of citizenship, democracy and social justice.
