The Political Bureau of the Iraqi Communist Party issued the following statement on 8th January 2019:
Once again, the sovereignty of our country is subjected to a new violation and our Iraqi citizens are being terrified, as Iran launched a missile attack early this morning on bases in Ain Al-Assad in Anbar and Harir in Erbil.
This Iranian bombing operation, as well as the events that preceded it, will increase the legitimate concern among our people that Iraq has actually become a field for the conflict between America and Iran, in flagrant violation of its sovereignty by all parties. This bombing again indicates the absence of a significant and concrete role for the Iraqi government in stopping these flagrant violations and ensuring the safety and security of Iraqi citizens.
We affirm our steadfast stance in emphasizing the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of our country and the inviolability of its territories, airspace and waters, and the condemnation of any violation to which it is subjected by any party. We are also firmly against turning our homeland into an arena to settle accounts and implement tit-for-tat revenge operations.
The current developments also indicate the absence of serious efforts by the Iraqi government and the dominant political forces to build a comprehensive Iraqi national stance, which stems from the supreme interest of our people and country and protects them from the scourge of international and regional conflicts. Such a stance should strive to defuse and settle these conflicts by peaceful and diplomatic means, by respecting international laws and norms and ensuring peace and security of peoples.
All parties are required to exercise restraint, prudence, and wisdom, and to prevent our people, youth, and wealth fuelling a war with which our people have nothing to do. Our people's choices and will have to be respected, being the masters of their own destiny and their independent national decision-making, away from external pressures, threats and interference in their internal affairs.
In the face of the mounting dangers indicated by recent developments, which constitute a growing threat to the security and safety of our people, and the need to enable our country to preserve national sovereignty and the independence of the Iraqi decision-making, it is necessary to intensify serious national effort aimed at strengthening the military institutions of the state, enabling them to fulfil their role in accordance with the Constitution and create the proper conditions to end the foreign military presence on our territories.
Our people have suffered greatly from wars and sanctions, and from the rule of tyrants and dictators, and they aspire not to return those days full of tragedies and disasters. They want to build their lives away from violence, hatred, corruption and sectarian power-sharing, in an atmosphere of peace, security, tranquillity, justice, true democracy and respect for human rights, and relations based on equality with all neighbouring countries and the world.

The Political Bureau of the Iraqi Communist Party has issued the following statement today, 3rd January 2019:
Earlier this morning, American forces carried out an assassination operation in which a number of official and leading Iraqi figures in the Popular Mobilization Units, who had a role in confronting terrorist ISIS and achieving victory over it, were killed.
We express our condemnation of this assassination as it is a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty and constitutes a serious escalation that pushes the situation in Iraq and the region towards further tension and increases the chances of intensifying armed conflicts and igniting war.
We believe that the series of grave developments during recent days increasingly indicates the transformation of Iraq into an arena for waging regional and international conflicts, for which our people pay a heavy price in blood and destruction. Concerted efforts of all the patriotic forces are required to spare our country the risks of being a party to the raging regional conflicts.
It must be said that the policy of the ruling forces over the past sixteen years, which led to undermining the authority of the state and eroding Iraq's national sovereignty, is a major reason for this flagrant violation and the transformation of the country into a theatre for settling scores, among the competing foreign powers, on our homeland.
In these volatile circumstances, we stress the importance of unifying the national stance in facing external interference from any party and working to enhance the capabilities of the Iraqi state and our armed forces with all their components, in order to defend the sovereignty of Iraq, protect its security internally and externally and maintain its independent national decision-making.
While calling for restraint, prudence and wisdom, and for putting the interests of our people and our country first, we look to the international community and the United Nations to make an effort to prevent our country being transformed into a battlefield for war with our Iraqi people suffering its consequences, and to safeguard security and peace in the region.
The imminent dangers that threaten Iraq impel us again to stress the importance and necessity of embarking upon the path of comprehensive change, saving our country from its crises and ridding it from the failed system of government which is based on sectarian power-sharing and corruption.

The Political Bureau of the Iraqi Communist Party issued the following statement on 29 December 2019, condemning the US strikes on Iraq:
The US military strikes that targeted positions of the Popular Mobilization Units and the resulting large number of casualties is an attack on Iraq’s national sovereignty and a blatant violation of it, which is rejected and condemned.
It also indicates the dangers of Iraq turning into an arena for ongoing conflicts in the region, especially between America and Iran. It stresses the urgent need to spare our people and armed forces, with all of its factions, the risks it entails.
We join the participants in the ongoing uprising and all the patriotic forces in calling for preserving the sovereignty, security and stability of Iraq and its independent national decision-making. Relations with other countries must be based on the interests of our people and their free will.
